In 2011, Anne-Marie was named the GTA's Woman of the Year at the Consumer's Choice Awards, recognizing the trust she has earned from viewers for her commitment to journalistic excellence and her active community involvement. She is known for high profile news coverage of events such as Jack Layton's state funeral, and The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Mediwake has conducted insightful interviews with former governor general Michaëlle Jean, humanitarian Stephen Lewis, and Bollywood superstar Bipasha Basu. Prior to joining CBC, she co-anchored Global Television's Toronto flagship newscast, and hosted Sri Lanka A Journey Home, a network news documentary that gave Canadians unprecedented access to the devastation after the Tsunami in her birth country of Sri Lanka.

Ernie Tollar’s flutes and recorders, along with his multi-instrumentalist group, create music inspired by the Silk Road past and present, connecting world cultures across the centuries.
PATRICIA CANO
Patricia Cano was born and raised in Sudbury,ON in a Peruvian household. Patricia moved to Paris, FR in 2002 to work with the world-renowned French theatre company, Le Théâtre du Soleil. She returned to the Americas, to Rio de Janiero, BR, performing and working with a musical collaborator, Carlos Bernardo. Since 2001, Patricia has travelled the world performing a one-woman cabaret alongside Tomson Highway - Canada's premiere Cree author/playwright/composer. She performed the songs of two of his plays in Cree Cabaret style from Sudbury to Prague to Rio and back again, and very recently, she starred in the Peterborough production of Highway's newest one-woman play, THE (POST) MISTRESS.
Her musical career began in 2008 when Patricia returned home, to Sudbury, ON. Together, Patricia and Carlos Bernardo co-wrote her debut album, a creation in four languages, THIS IS THE NEW WORLD (released Nov. 2009). The album was launched in Lima, Peru with great success, and Patricia has toured northern Ontario, and performed in many festivals including Toronto’s Luminato.
MARYEM TOLLAR, SOPHIA GRIGORIADIS AND BRENNA MACCRIMMON (top to bottom)
Maryem Tollar, Sophia Grigoriadis and Brenna MacCrimmon will do vocal music from Turkey, Greece, and the Middle East. They have performed over the last decade in various projects including Maza Meze, Mraya, Doula, and Altin Yildiz Orkestra, to name a few. The three singers will be featured for a rare performance together bringing in beautiful arrangements of this traditional repertoire.
WALEED KUSH ENSEMBLE with RUTH MATHIANG
Waleed Abdulhamid is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, vocalist and producer. Born in Sudan, Waleed began performing at the age of 6. Waleed has been an active member of the Toronto music scene since his arrival in Canada in 1992. He demonstrates his versatility on strings and percussion instruments. He is known for his striking vocals, innovative bass technique and speed and precision on percussion. Waleed works extensively as a studio musician and arranger with local R & B bands, and appears regularly at music festivals across Canada.
RUTH MATHIANG
"The emerging Canadian artist who aspires to use her voice and talent to advocate for important social issues has become a sought after voice -- both as an activist and an artist. Mathiang has performed in venues all across North America since she arrived in Canada as a refugee in 2001. Her elegant melodic sound has been described as a "mixture of traditional African music with modern hip hop, adult contemporary jazz and reggae inspired."

SAMPRADAYA’s most ambitious production to date, TAJ, commissioned by the prestigious Luminato Festival in 2011, has recently completed a seven-city Canadian tour.
